Competition: Sidelighting and Open

Date:
January 11, 2010
Submission deadline:
December 31, 2009

Sidelighting is when light/brightness comes from the right or left of your subject. It is a good way to show texture and to add depth to an image or to get a mysterious, dramatic portrait. Side lighting can have a very dramatic effect on your photos, as it tends to cast one side in shadow, while putting the other in the spot light.

Submission guidelines are the same as other digital competitions:

  • sRGB jpegs
  • maximum 768 pixels on the long side whether vertical or horizontal
  • no digital borders, please, just image
  • titled as usual with Category_initials_title, so a picture by Marshall (MPG) called "Thurgood Marshall Eats a Scone" in the Sidelighting category would be submitted as: Sidelighting_MPG_ThurgoodMarshallEatsaScone.jpg.
  • submitted to Patrick by email with the subject line "Sidelighting/Open Competition". If you need Patrick's email, please ask someone in the club.

The competition is open to all paid-up members.
